Need ROOM TEMPERATURE, softened butter, like, NOW? We’ve all been there. We have a time crunch or baked goods craving that just won’t wait. The recipe we NEED to bake requires “room temperature” or “softened butter”. And guess what. Yours is rock hard and super cold….happily chillaxin in the fridge next to their neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Cream Cheese. Well NOW you don’t have to wait {and have a stage 4 meltdown} HOURS for that butter to soften up! Come see how easy it is to have perfectly soft, room temperature butter in less than 10 minutes while you gather the rest of your ingredients for your midnight snack/child’s classroom party the next morning/just because you want it NOW!

This had happened to me SO many times! I’d get all happy and get out all of my ingredients and set them out…..
And then I start reading the recipe… and {cue psycho shower scene music} I see that it requires ROOM TEMPERATURE or SOFTENED butter! Yes, yes indeed, I’ve made the huge mistake of melting it in the microwave and having the recipe FLOP on its shoulda been yummy face. So hard. That is UNTIL years upon years ago when I was hangin with the Pops {aka the greatest problem solver of all time – fact. Do not even say your Dad is smarter or whatever – I will fight you} and we came upon the same problemo whilst whipping up some last second craving satisfying culinary masterpiece. As usual. I was all “OH my FREAK I hate this! We need softened butter – GAH!!! Oh, forget it then!” And he was all “Pssh. Easy! Watch this.” And then in his typical “the man, the myth, the legend” style, he showed me this magical solution.
Grab a glass and fill it with boiling water – or microwave it for about 3 minutes to get it to boil. Let it get nice and hot from the boiling water for about a minute. {If you microwaved it you don’t have to wait as the microwave heated up the glass along with the water}
Now dump the hot water out of the glass and cover the stick of butter with the hot glass for at least 5 minutes:
Let it set there working its magic while you gather all of the other ingredients you need for your tummy taming masterpiece. It srsly takes less than 10 minutes to be soft and perfect all the way through the entire stick! Dad said 5 minutes {and he’s probably right} but 10 minutes FOR SURE you are good to go. Just take off the glass and VOILA:
Perfectly softened, room temperature, ready for your recipe BUTTER! Now you will never have to wait again. And that’s awesome. Cuz, I dunno about you, but waiting isn’t my favorite. It’s right there on the list beside things like clipping the dogs’ or my grandbaby’s nails. Now go and bake that yumminess you had your heart set on at 2am and crank the soundtrack to Moulin Rouge, my friend! I’m sure Dad says “You’re welcome.”
